1 RIGHTEOUSNESS & HOLINESS on Fri Mar 09, 2018 7:26 am

I think my thoughts according to the word of God! It is what is in my heart which makes me holy in the sight of God. Brethren, let us remember the word of God concerning the perfecting of our righteousness and the maturing of our holiness.

(1) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1

I find in this verse a principle of responsibility which is in accordance with the heart and will of God. The Holy Spirit is making an imperative statement when the scripture states “let us”. This means that we have a responsibility to cleanse ourselves; we are saved to that end for we have been empowered to enable that perfecting.

Perfect: epiteleō in the Greek

From G1909 and G5055; to fulfill further (or completely), that is, execute; by implication to terminate, undergo: - accomplish, do, finish, (make) (perfect), perform (X -ance).

Brethren we possess the promises through the covenant and those promises are empowering for the purpose of perfecting through our obedience. My heart has changed; sin is a stranger and the Lord is the host of my heart therefore abiding in me and through me to execute the filthiness that stains our lives. We are the righteousness of God through the blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. The Holy Spirit resides and abides in us to guide, inform, and empower us to strive for perfection all the days of our lives.

Our natures are no longer beastly and carnal we are new creatures in Christ and now we possess the Spirit of Christ. Our holiness is heart holiness; not the outward appearance of holiness that can hide a multitude of sins. We now bear the image of Christ in the inner man; we are without excuse because of the indwelling truth of God. As he was in world a spotless lamb, we now are those who live upon the altar of perpetual sacrifice dying continually to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

Righteousness and holiness are by products of our union to and relationship with Christ. The power of crucifixion becomes the power of resurrection and victory of the filthiness of the flesh and spirit. Our hearts are always facing our heavenly home in a sojourn to be led by the Spirit on the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake! Let us therefore exercise and execute the power of the Spirit when we are faced with contamination always bearing about in our bodies the resurrection of Christ to the glory, honor, and praise of God! Selah

Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
D.R. Ritchie (Emissary)
