Proverbs 23:7 The essence of discipleship is a changed life that comes from a transformed heart. But why is the transformation of our heart necessary? Who is responsible for that transformation? And, what is the process by which my heart, and therefore my life, can be transformed? We will answer those three key questions in today’s message.

Developing A Praying Heart

Mathew 6:5-8 Last time we discovered that the first mark of a disciple is a transformed heart that is the foundation of a changed life. But what does a transformed heart actually look like? Just as our physical heart is comprised of various chambers, so is our spiritual heart. Today we are going to look at one of those primary components of a truly transformed heart: a praying heart.

Developing A Trusting Heart

Colossians 3:15 Last time we discovered the third mark of a disciple: an obedient heart. But we will only fully, joyfully, and consistently obey a God we fully trust. There is an inseparable link between obedience and trust, which is why the fourth mark of a true follower of Christ is “a trusting heart.”

Developing A Content Heart

Benjamin Franklin once asked, “Who is he that is happiest? He who is content. And who is that? No one.” Although contentment with God’s provisions is often elusive, it is a mark of a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

The two most important issues in life both deal with the subject of forgiveness: choosing to receive forgiveness from God and choosing to extend forgiveness to those who wrong us. The choice to forgive others is essential to our physical, emotional, and spiritual health and is a mark of a true disciple of Christ.
