When we accumulate facts and put reins on our emotions, then we will be more prepared to meet the times in which we live. Speculation is not always factual summation because you must pursue truth before you can make an informed decision. I watch in amazement how emotion overrides common sense. I see people willing to hurt, harm, and criticize based upon their emotional response to something they haven’t searched out thoroughly.

Where is the biblical concept of Christians who don’t use biblical principle to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath? Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, hatred has a way of manifesting itself through our words as well as our actions. Where does our confidence lay if we are so easily upset about the current events, why do we Christians joined the verbal vitriol with words which are malicious and ungodly?

Addressing the status quo can be handled in a more Christ-like fashion; with words that gender wisdom and solutions instead of stirring up strive and confusion through emotional outburst which diminish.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29 KJV)

We’ve all fallen into the trap of anger over an issue which we may hold dear; but as Christians we have a responsibility to present the character of Christ to a lost and dying sinful generation. When we condescend to the nature of the old man; it is a witness against the Christ we say lives so greatly within us. We cannot justify our behavior because we think an earthly cause is just. Let us consider those whom are watching our response and behavior when things are not going the way we want them to; and how they perceive us when the verbal malice flows like a river out of our mouths. God’s word speaks against this behavior.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: (Ephesians 4:31 KJV)

Brethren allowing firmly the love of Christ to be root of our emotional responses will lead us to a greater state of communicating the truth in a fashion which is more acceptable to God and honors him in doing so. We can speak the fullness of truth in love; we can refute, we can correct, we can state our position, we can instruct, and we can reprove all in and through the love of Christ which dwells richly in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

Brethren we might just be the key to setting someone free! May you and I always understand we have an audience who may be looking to us for genuine Christianity. If just might be that our lives through the abundance of our heartfelt words can lead someone in need of Christ today. If you are a Christian let the bible speak through you and let your actions denote Christ not only in your words but also in your deeds. Yes brethren let us become manna from heaven for those around us! Selah

Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
D.R. Ritchie
